Genderbread, rainbow cake and activism

Last modified date

On the 27th of March 2019, the Rainbow Reflections group and the Proud Trust hosted an all-inclusive LGBTQ+ event, where everyone there could express their feelings and take part in activities that brought everyone together to learn more about LGBTQ+ related topics while making new friends.

Over 30 people came to join the wonderful activities that were being offered, which included badge making, and a ‘genderbread’ stall where we could decorate our own gingerbread person, while learning about the differences between identity, orientation, and sex. The final activity was a discussion group, where everyone could talk about the activism and barriers to peace specifically surrounding LGBTQ+ related movements. Overall, it was an amazing event that allowed members of the community to come together and support each other, regardless of whether they were part of the community or allies.

If you would like to find out more or join the Rainbow Reflections group, they meet at the Talkshop in Sale (M33 7ZF) every Wednesday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. There’s lots more info about LGBT+ issues and support on our page too!
